Angelman syndrome is a severe neurological disorder characterized by developmental delays, epilepsy, and problems with motor coordination and balance.

This organization advances the awareness and treatment of Angelman syndrome through education and information, research, and support for individuals with Angelman syndrome, their families and other concerned parties.

Financial Assistance

The Family Fund was created to provide financial assistance to families supporting individuals with Angelman Syndrome. Family members can apply for funds to improve the quality of life for an individual living with Angelman Syndrome. Due to the large number of applications, only complete and accurate submissions will be reviewed. Check Website for details.

• Applicant must be a caregiver (legal guardian, primary caregiver, etc) for an individual diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome.
• Applicant must not have received a grant from the ASF/ASF Canada Family Fund within the past three (3) complete calendar years. For example, if your family received a grant in October 2020, you would be eligible in the April 2024 round of applications.
• Request must impact an individual with Angelman Syndrome.

• Individual recipients for prosthetic appliances, wheelchairs, beds or other forms of physical or educational assistance; necessary travel reimbursements for clinic travel; or other needs that prove to be worthy of funding, provided there are no other funds, public or private, available for the needs of such individuals.
• If you have received an ASF/ASF Canada Family Fund grant previously, you can resubmit an application once every three (3) complete calendar years.
• The total requested amount for funding may not be met. The maximum amount per grant award is up to $5,000.
• Funds will be disbursed per new requests and will be paid directly to the vendor, grants will not apply to previous purchases. Only one proposal may be submitted at a time. If a grant is not awarded, applicants may reapply during the next ASF/ASF Canada Family Fund grant cycle.
• ASF Canada will do their best to fund applications, however, approval of Family Fund Grants are based on criteria and funding availability.
• When specific items requested may not be offered, an alternative or comparable item could be granted.

• Evidence the beneficiary is a person diagnosed with Angelman syndrome.
• Sources of other funding, either received or sought, should also be listed.
• Letter or documentation from Occupational Therapist for specialty items may be requested.
• Individuals need not seek the sponsorship or endorsement of any public or private entity before applying for grants from the ASF/ASF Canada Family Fund, but may be asked to apply for additional support in conjunction with a grant approval.
• Two (2) estimates are required for each request. Applicants may submit their Grant Application with any additional information the applicant believes appropriate. Any deviation from the use of funds as authorized in the grant reward, without prior written authorization of the Canadian Angelman Syndrome Society, will result in permanent disqualification from any future grant award by the ASF/ASF Canada Family Fund.
