West Parry Sound District Community Support Services
Service: Friendly Visiting for Seniors, West Parry Sound District Community Support Services
Description
Description (Service) | Connects and educates people in the community to identify the signs and symptoms that a senior may be at risk and provides opportunity to connect them to the appropriate service. Adopt a Senior adopts isolated, lonely seniors at Christmas to receive a bag of Christmas Joy. These individuals continue to be connected to Seniors Safekeeping services and activities throughout the year. Volunteer Friendly Visiting program brings clients together with volunteers to ease clients isolation and worry. Visits may include going for walks, reading together or sharing a cup of tea; the desired outcome is an on-going supportive relationship. Tele-chat may be arranged for individuals that require a regular call to ensure that they are safe, comfortable and in good health. |
